Line Mechanic – Foreperson

Our Warkworth  team is looking for an experienced Team Leader - Line Mechanic to join them and work on the construction and maintenance of overhead electrical lines and underground cables to customer and Network requirements.

The role
Reporting to the Supervisor, you’ll walk the safety talk and be responsible for directing a team of people to manage and deliver work safely, positively, effectively and efficiently, also provide technical support, scoping and planning assistance as required. The work is varied, and you’ll be an integral part of a field-based team.  You'll be accountable to :

- Play a key part in the construction and maintenance of electrical lines and underground cables to customer requirements
- Provide day to day supervision and promote utilisation and productivity within your team
- Complete WTC competency assessments as required
- Perform competent audits and quality checks
- Ensure plant and equipment are compliant, in test, in good working order and fit for purpose
- Work with the supervisor/management to plan and agree on work/job objectives
- Scope and price a job effectively and identify environmental and other influencing factors

About you
You’ll be working on a variety of exciting projects and may have to do some occasional weekend work. You will have a natural flair leading a team, building and maintaining effective customer relations, be a self-motivator and take initiative where needed. To be successful in this role, you will also have:

- Current NZ EWRB Practicing licence  (Line Mechanic) is essential
- NZ Certificate or overseas qualification equivalent to Level 4 (required to work on the Vector Network) or relevant trade qualification
- At least five years’ solid experience under your belt with knowledge of electrical principles
- A valid Class 2 driver’s licence  is essential , Current HT Class 4 licence would be an advantage
- Ability to organise and plan own workload and the workload of others to achieve results
- Demonstrated leadership skills to coach and guide a team
-  Strong safety focus with a consistently excellent record on  quality standards;  pro-actively promote a safety culture in line with legislation and company procedures
- A great work attitude and comfortable being a  part of a diverse team in a multicultural environment
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Enjoy working in team environments, yet able to work self-directed
- Current Work Place Competency (WTC)’s as required by the role
