The role
As one of our Procurement Specialist, you’ll take charge of procurement and sourcing functions for our contracting business. Reporting to the Assets and Supply Chain Manager, you'll be a key player in ensuring smooth project delivery and driving Northpower’s success and will be based either at our Auckland or Hamilton Depot.
The key responsibility for this position includes, but are not limited to:
- Manage procurement policies, supplier agreements, and cost-effective sourcing
- Negotiate contracts, monitor vendor performance, and ensure compliance
- Analyse expenditure trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities
- Identify new products and market opportunities to reduce costs
- Assist in identifying continuous improvements, streamlining workflows, enhancing our customer experiences, and improving social and environmental outcomes
- Experience in or understanding of risk management in a procurement and contract management context.

Who we’re looking for?
We’re seeking a dynamic professional with 5+ years of procurement experience with operational background, sharp business acumen, and a proven track record in strategic procurement, contract negotiation, and supplier management. Your ability to collaborate effectively, maintain professionalism, and deliver high customer satisfaction sets you apart.
Here’s what we’re after:
- Territory qualification preferably in procurement qualification with experience in managing large tenders and contracts
- Strong relationship management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with a proven ability to engage internal and external stakeholders
- Experience leading collaborative procurement projects in complex and multi-stakeholder environments
- High commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive outcomes while balancing priorities
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Project, JDE, and a willingness to travel to depots, work sites, and engage with suppliers
- Be highly motivated. Innovative, curious and open to new ways of doing things, so you’ll need to think outside the box.
