About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Trainee Line
Mechanic to join our Transmission team. This is an excellent opportunity to
build a long-term career in the electricity industry while working on
high-voltage transmission and distribution networks under the guidance of
experienced Line Mechanics.
You will receive structured on-the-job training, formal
block courses, and ongoing support to develop the skills required to work
safely and competently on overhead electricity networks.
Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee Line Mechanic, you will:
-Be motivated, self-starting, punctual, have a positive attitude, complete all required documentation with accurate timekeeping etc
-Support the construction, maintenance, and servicing of electrical lines in line with customer and network requirements
-Assist in developing and following work plans for construction and servicing of overhead electricity lines and associated equipment
-Assist with overhauling /replacing hardware in electrical networks up to 220kV
-Install and replace electricity pole structures and overhead conductors
-Participate in, complete, and successfully pass all
required block courses and associated unit standards within required timeframes.

Experience:
The successful candidate will hold a New Zealand Driver
Licence, with an HT (Heavy Transport) licence being desirable or a willingness
to obtain one. A minimum of four years secondary education or equivalent is
required, along with the ability and commitment to complete all required
industry training, block courses, and unit standards.
You will ideally have experience working at heights or
demonstrate confidence when working above ground level, be physically fit and
able to perform manual work in outdoor environments and challenging conditions
and have a strong commitment to health and safety supported by an excellent
safety record and a safety-first mindset. You will bring a positive attitude,
strong work ethic, and genuine passion for the electricity and transmission
industry, along with good verbal and written communication skills that enable
you to follow instructions, work effectively as part of a team, and complete
documentation accurately, and you will be reliable, motivated, and committed to
building a long-term career as a Line Mechanic.
