The Opportunity:
As Operations Manager, you will have end-to-end accountability for operational performance, financial outcomes, and people leadership within your business unit in the Contracting arm of the business. The role has responsibility for the Manawatu & Wairarapa area, leading teams delivering fault response, planned maintenance, and asset replacement. You will ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with agreed KPIs.
Working closely with senior leaders, including the General Manager and Commercial Manager, you will contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives. As part of a wider operations leadership team, you will work collaboratively to drive operational excellence across the entire central region, while maintaining strong, responsive day-to-day delivery in a dynamic contracting environment.
Role
Responsibilities:
-Leading fault response, maintenance and asset replacement activities in line with industry and client standards
-Delivering an exceptional customer experience without compromising HSQE outcomes
-Owning financial performance including budgets, forecasting, profitability and cost control
-Identifying and delivering productivity, efficiency and growth opportunities
-Managing fleet, plant and equipment to optimise performance and value
-Building strong, long-term relationships with customers and key stakeholders
-Developing, coaching and performance-managing a diverse, geographically spread workforce
-Embedding company strategy, behaviours and culture across your team
-Actively contributing to safety, digital, risk and operational improvement forums
Experience:
-Strong financial and commercial acumen with a track record of meeting or exceeding budget targets
-Confident people leadership skills, including performance management and capability development
-Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills
-The ability to anticipate challenges, make sound decisions and follow issues through to resolution
-To secure this role you will need proven experience in a similar role within the electricity supply (Distribution / Transmission) industry in New Zealand/Australia.
