HSQE Manager

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced HSQE Manager to take a lead role in shaping, driving and embedding a strong HSQE and learning mindset across our regional operations.
This is a hands-on, influential position where you’ll work closely with the Regional Manager, Operational Managers, frontline field teams and contractors to ensure safe, proactive learning and high-quality service delivery. You’ll act as the regional HSQE expert, coach and trusted advisor balancing strategic oversight with practical, on-the-ground support. This role requires a reasonable understanding of contemporary safety science, including Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) and Safety Differently principles.

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide regional HSQE leadership and practical support to HSQE business partners, managers, frontline teams and key client organisations.

-Champion contemporary safety approaches that emphasis learning, systems thinking and the realities of work-as-done.

-Lead regional efforts to identify and control high-energy hazards using an energy-based safety framework.

-Drive Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) prevention activities, ensuring that high-risk work is managed through critical risk controls and verification processes.

-Facilitate learning teams, operational learning activities and post-event learning reviews to strengthen organisational learning.

-Work with operational leaders to understand and improve the conditions that influence worker behaviour and performance.

-Ensure HSQE processes support capacity, resilience and error-tolerant systems rather than relying solely on compliance controls.

-Lead audits, inspections and incident reviews, ensuring corrective actions are completed and embedded

-Lead and contribute to regional safety and Safe Team meetings

-Build strong relationships with operational teams, customers and internal stakeholders

-Act as the regional point of contact for all HSQE matters

What We’re Looking For:

Experience & Capability
-Proven HSQE leadership experience, ideally within an operational service provider or field-based environment

-Proven experience applying contemporary safety theories within operational environments.

-Working knowledge of energy-based safety concepts and their application in identifying and controlling high-energy hazards.

-Strong working knowledge of HSQE legislation, standards and best practice

-Experience facilitating learning teams, operational learning and incident reviews.

-Experience with auditing and assurance programs, and practical experience with understanding and observing work-as-done.
