HSQE Business Partner

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated HSQE Business Partner to play a pivotal role in embedding a proactive safety culture and driving continuous improvement across our operational teams. Acting as the primary point of contact for HSQE matters within assigned business units, you will provide expert guidance, coaching, and leadership to ensure compliance, engagement, and strong performance across health, safety, quality, and environmental outcomes.
This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with operational leaders, H&S representatives, contractors, and staff. You will influence, support, and challenge teams to identify risks, implement effective controls, and ensure improvements are embedded and sustained.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as the primary HSQE point of contact for assigned business units
- Champion a proactive safety culture and embed HSQE values into daily operations
- Provide expert HSQE advice, coaching, and leadership to operational teams and H&S representatives
- Support the HSQE Manager on all HSQE and wellbeing matters across the region
- Foster a culture where employees feel engaged, empowered, and accountable for keeping themselves, others, the public, and the environment safe
- Engage and educate teams on safe work practices
- Carry out site inspections and accurately record findings
- Conduct HSQE audits, including subcontractor audits, and support the transition to a more risk-based auditing approach
- Analyse audit results, report on performance, and track corrective actions to completion
- Support and participate in external audits as required
- Assist with monthly Safe Team Meeting documentation and contribute to meetings
- Support monthly regional operational safety meetings
- Work with staff to identify HSQE improvements, ensure actions are logged, tracked, embedded, and communicated
- Escalate roadblocks and risks to the HSQE Manager when required
- Provide technical HSQE advice as part of the Change Control process
- Maintain all required competencies, certifications, and professional development relevant to the role

About You

You are a confident, influential HSQE professional who can balance technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment and have the credibility to intervene respectfully when unsafe practices are observed.

Experience:

- 5+ years’ proven HSQE operational experience, ideally within a contracting environment
- Experience in electrical power distribution and/or transmission (highly advantageous)
- Strong training and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building ability
- Confidence working with Microsoft Office to support reporting and administration
- A collaborative, team-focused approach with the ability to influence at all levels
- Strong initiative, professionalism, and resilience
- The ability to anticipate challenges, read situations, and respond effectively
- Tenacity to see issues through to successful outcomes
