Annual Report 2025

Partners in infrastructure

Our commitment – Right Partner, Right Team, Right Scale
Northpower’s purpose is centred on infrastructure – investing in infrastructure that supports Northland; servicing energy infrastructure across the North Island; and building the skills and careers of our people.

This decade continues to be a critical period for deepening that contribution. As Tai Tokerau and Aotearoa New Zealand reach for growth and a future supported by electrification, we are actively scaling our investment and construction efforts.

This Annual Report spotlights the changes we are making in these areas. It sets out the specific investments we are making in support of Northland, and showcases the work we are doing to be the Right Partner, Right Team and Right Scale for our clients.

Our results – A year of practical delivery, and improved results
We’re proud of our investments in Northland – we’ve invested $53 million into our networks to ensure they remain a match for regional growth, and delivered our first utility-scale solar project, Te Puna Mauri ō Omaru in Ruawai, a 16.8MWdc plant. It’s the first of several projects in our generation pipeline.

We’re also proud of our 1,250 strong Energy Services team – their construction efforts totalled more than $400 million this year, our biggest contribution to network modernisation ever. Our services offering now extends across solar, battery, and drone enabled data capture. Key new areas for our clients.

As our delivery has stepped up, so have our teams. This year, we invested $2.5 million in building capability, with more than 100 trainees and over 160 developing leaders in our development programs. It’s our way of supporting our teams development, and investing in the professionalism that will shape our sectors future.

Our context – A sector combining for effect
We’ve enjoyed working in partnership with our clients this year, and supporting them in the work they are doing for their communities. Thank you, we deeply appreciate your continued belief and support which has strengthened our delivery over the past two decades.

Thank you also to our supply partners and peer companies. The energy transition demands a coordinated team effort, and the sector is increasingly aligning to get the job done. We appreciate your generosity in sharing your ideas, and your support when the storms have rolled in.

We are proud to contribute to Aotearoa New Zealand’s electrification efforts.
