Crucial connections
In late 2022, Transpower successfully commissioned the Bombay T5 110kV cable, a crucial connection between the newly installed 220/110kV T5 Transformer and the 110kV Bus at Transpower’s Bombay Substation.
Northpower’s SSC HV cables team, based in Auckland, played a pivotal role in the installation, termination, and testing of the 110kV cables as part of a larger project.
Powering the Auckland region
The project aimed to establish a reliable connection between the newly installed 220/110kV T5 Transformer and the 110kV Bus at the Bombay Substation to enhance power transmission capabilities in the Auckland region.
Acting as One
Works carried out by our team included the installation, termination, and testing of 3x 1c 2000mm2 CU XLPE 110kV cables between T5 and Bay 250, and coordination with other contractors involved in the larger project to ensure seamless integration and commissioning.
The Northpower team worked closely together with Transpower and other contractors on site, with the project a great example of successful collaboration and one of our company behaviours: ‘Acting as One’.
