Stay Safe Together campaign with Mitre 10 MEGA

For the first time in summer 2025/26, Northpower joined forces with retailer Mitre 10 MEGA Whangārei for its Stay Safe Together summer safety campaign.

We’ve been running the Stay Safe Together campaign since 2022, evolving it from a social media to a multi-faceted campaign that now includes one of New Zealand’s major retailers.

Our partnership with Mitre 10 MEGA Whangārei enabled safety messaging to be embedded directly into customers’ everyday shopping experiences, reaching people preparing for summer activities such as DIY projects, camping, BBQs and boating. Practical safety prompts were placed alongside relevant products in store, reinforcing simple actions customers could take immediately to reduce risk.

It wouldn’t be a true collaboration without Northpower hosting the popular community BBQ during the campaign at Mitre 10 MEGA Whangārei, raising $765 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in Northland.

Heartened by the funds raised for this important cause, Community Partnerships Lead Arriane Christie said, “I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the community”.

Our Stay Safe Together campaign was launched as an evolution of our ongoing public safety messaging and reflects Northpower’s commitment to supporting safer communities.

Public safety remains one of the organisation’s critical risks, with proactive engagement playing an important role in preventing harm around electricity assets and in the home.
