Contracting Capabilities

Northpower provides contracting services across the North Island including engineering, infrastructure management and maintenance and construction.

Progress continues at Northpower's first solar farm

Northpower’s first solar farm, Te Puna Mauri ō Omaru, in Ruawai, Northland will be one of New Zealand’s first large-scale community-owned solar farms.

The investment aims to give the community an ownership stake in renewable energy, ensuring benefits stay in Northland. “Ownership is just one benefit,” says CFO Ollie O’Neill. “Northpower also aims to grow local skills, capabilities, and businesses, and deliver renewable services nationwide.”

The 17MW farm is being built by Northpower’s Future Energy division, a new branch of its contracting business specialising in the design and construction of renewable projects. Future Energy is partnering with local businesses for equipment, machinery, and construction, employing community members including hapū from Te Uri o Hau.

This project showcases Northpower’s commitment to connecting communities, building futures and supporting New Zealand’s energy transition.
