Safety
Why safety matters
‘Be mindful, be present, be safe’ – He taonga ko tahi manaaki tatou katoa – what is precious to one we must all take care of, protect and treasure. We protect ourselves and look out for those around us’.
Safety is at the forefront of everything we do at Northpower. Our grassroots, ground-up approach to safety, ensures that everyone – at all levels across our organisation – is empowered and encouraged to be a safety leader.
A key component of our safety strategy is our critical risk control management programme, where we’ve identified ten critical risks that pose a likelihood to cause serious harm or a fatality.
The programme applies a process to assess each risk, their control, and more specifically the critical controls.
Our safety forum network runs across our organisation at a local and national level, providing a proven framework for our people to engage and participate in health and safety at Northpower.
We’re proud of the numerous awards and recognition of our safety practices awarded over the years from industry organisations and our customers.
