A future in the electricity sector
Northpower trade cadets programme
We are fully committed to building great careers for local young people through our cadetship programme which offers pathways into fulltime employment.
Northpower’s trade cadet programme is a fully paid eight-week work-readiness programme which leads to a trades apprenticeship at Northpower.
Our cadetship aims to give participants the very best start in the industry. We start by providing a comprehensive week of onboarding which includes a whakatau to welcome our new cadets to the Northpower business, a noho marae to create connections with each other and learn the local history, a first aid course, and workshops to familiarise cadets with our Northpower behaviours, critical risks, culture and wellbeing.
On completion of the programme, graduates receive the NZ Certificate Level 2 in electricity supply and are ready to join our teams as a trainee in one of our specialised pathways; Line Mechanic Distribution/Transmission, Cable Jointer, Electrical Fitter or Utility Arborist.
