Manager, Network Platforms

About the Role:
As the Manager, Network Platforms, you’ll oversee the delivery, performance, and evolution of the digital systems and back-end integrations that support Northpower’s Electricity Network. This includes customer care, asset management, geospatial, engineering delivery and commercial systems. You’ll lead a team of specialists, ensuring our platforms are secure and reliable, and create a collaborative, agile culture focused on meeting the needs of our internal customers.

You’ll work closely with leaders across the Electricity Network and Digital teams, shaping technology roadmaps, improving service delivery, and driving strategic initiatives that strengthen our digital capability.

You’ll also partner with external vendors, industry contractors, and the wider digital community to ensure Northpower’s platforms remain future‑fit, resilient, and aligned with best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement
- Service delivery management to key network managers
- Advocate for business unit needs within Digital
- Ensure Digital services meet operational requirements
- Guide prioritisation of business improvement initiatives
- Uplift digital understanding across stakeholders

Business Alignment
- Ensures open, transparent communications are facilitated with and between stakeholders
- Support Head of Network Digital with budget management and advice on strategic matters
- Shape demand into a future product roadmap to achieve agreed goals

Project Delivery
- Contribute to business cases and project governance
- Support annual strategy planning and reporting
- Oversee allocated implementation tasks, resource allocation, and deliverables
- Sign off on solution designs and architecture alignment
- Ensure projects transition smoothly into BAU

Platform Lifecycle Management
- Oversee lifecycle of electricity network platforms
- Recommend upgrades, replacements, or retirements
- Review service portfolio performance, costs, usability, and risks
- Consider long‑term costs, flexibility, and operational support needs

Operational Excellence
- Manage day‑to‑day operation of digital platforms
- Reduce technical debt and influence sound investment decisions
- Work with Information Security to manage risks
- Ensure vendors deliver to contract and service expectations

Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of six (or as required)
- Align team goals with Northpower’s strategic direction
- Support capability development and provide constructive feedback
- Promote open communication and high‑performance culture

About You:
You’ll bring a strong blend of digital expertise, leadership capability, and a collaborative mindset. You understand complex digital environments and know how to align technology with business needs.

- Happy to work from our Whangarei office
- Qualifications in information systems or related field (preferred)
- 10+ years’ experience in digital and operational ICT roles
- Experience leading complex programmes across multiple methodologies
- Strong team leadership and people management experience
- Well‑developed change management capability
- Proven decision‑making and ability to coordinate and integrate change
- Experience managing business initiatives with measurable outcomes
- Ability to travel when required
