About the Role:
As an Experienced Design Estimator, you will be responsible for the design and pricing of electricity network infrastructure projects across both HV and LV systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring designs are fit for purpose, meet industry and customer standards, and are delivered efficiently and accurately. You'll work closely with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders to coordinate designs, secure consents, and support project delivery from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Design Estimator, you will be responsible for designing and pricing HV and LV electricity network infrastructure, mainly focusing on overhead design works. But depending on your experience, could be exposed to subdivisions, substations, network reinforcements, relocations, and new connections. You will prepare accurate estimates and quotations, coordinate with internal teams and external service providers, and obtain necessary consents and approvals to support project delivery. The role involves ensuring all designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and project scopes, while developing efficient methodologies to optimise resources and minimise disruption. You will maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, support tender preparation, and contribute to successful project outcomes through effective communication, problem-solving, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
About You:
-Strong technical knowledge in Overhead line construction/design and attention to detail
-Proven ability to scope and price projects accurately
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
-Effective problem-solving and decision-making ability
-Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
-A collaborative team player with a proactive, can-do attitude
- Experience using line design software (Neara or Catan/COLDNet)
would be an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience
-Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Level 4), or equivalent
-Minimum 4 years’ experience in electricity distribution
-Strong experience in HV and LV network design and pricing (subdivisions and underground networks)
-Knowledge of substation design is advantageous
-Understanding of NZ electricity industry standards and safety requirements
-Full Class 1 Driver Licence
